Cherries in June

A poem by Rivkah Lambert Adler

After the chuppah,

life’s rhythm restored,

it was just a bare tree

in our yard

that first winter.

Already Sivan when we

discovered its sweet surprise

Cherries in June –

laugh with juicy, red pleasure.

Like us –

an ordinary tree

but then,

cherries!

Blessing unearned.

I loved this. Made me think of Cherries In The Snow, the Revlon, long discontinued lipstick my mother always wore. Thank you for the sweet memory. Hope you write more for Jean. :)
